Eastern Kentucky said goodbye to a local hero yesterday

Pete Grigsby Jr. lived a full life by all accounts, playing for the University of Kentucky under Coach Adolf Rupp on the 1954 team that held a perfect record. Grigsby came back to the mountains and Coached at McDowell High School for 13 seasons, bringing the school 3 regional championships; he also coached at M.C. Napier High School for three seasons. Grigsby held an impressive career with the Floyd County board of Education, serving as superintendent for the better part of a decade. Grigsby passed away at age 81, visitation and services will be at Hall Funeral Home in Martin.
