State officials hosted a conversation about senior hunger issues in Frankfort.
“Unfortunately in Kentucky 1 in 6 seniors do not have enough access to affordable, nutritious food,” said Shannon Gadd with the Commissioner Department for Aging and Independent Living.
Restaurant owners, farmers, business leaders and legislators were all in attendance, in order to become educated about the issue and then to look at what food banks and social services are available in Kentucky .
Senior citizens often need help with food donations and preparing meals.
