Cordia School was under a precautionary lockdown Thursday morning.
The Knott County Sheriff’s Office said a man showed up at the school trying to take a student out of class. It is unclear if the student was his child or not. When school officials told him no, the man got upset and said he was going to go home and kill his wife.
The man was last spotted at the top of Yellow Creek Mountain. Police are out searching for him now. They have not released any identifying information about the man.
Superintendent Kimberly King said that the lockdown was a precautionary measure and all the students are safe. No one at the school was in any danger. Once everyone was marked safe the lockdown was lifted.
