The Betsy Layne Fire Protection District issued a warning about a potential scam.

The volunteer fire department said that someone placed baskets inside a family dollar in Betsy Layne soliciting the donation of nine-volt batteries.

Captain Bobby Slone said that he does not want people wasting their money and said the department does not accept public donations because they are in a Chapter 75 Tax Collection District.
