According to Martin County Sheriff, John Kirk, an individual has been visiting local churches and asking for money. In a release his office said they the individual will tell the congregation a sob story, and then ask for money. The Sheriff’s department warns the public to be wary when approached by individuals asking for money. They advise the public to call 911 and get the person’s license plate number. Officials have only been able to release a vague description of the scammer, describing him as tall, clean cut, and nicely dressed.
