Judge Executive Albery Brock expects the issue to be fixed by the end of the month.
The Department of Corrections sent out a letter last Friday ordering an evacuation from the facility due to issues with an inoperable smoke evacuation system, and now the jail now has a 30-day extension to complete the project.
Jailer Gary Ferguson claims The smoke evacuation system is being worked on, and the project is 70 percent complete.
Brock also expressed his gratitude towards Gov. Andy Beshear and Beshear’s Cabinet Secretary for taking the time to learn more information about the repair.
