KY Route 550 has been shut down at mile point 0-1, right past the intersection with KY route 7 because of an active slide that has blocked both lanes of the highway.

Minnie Maintenance Assistant Superintendent Adam Brown said that his crew has been monitoring this area, keeping it clear for several days. In the interest of public safety, the decision to shut the road down was made at midnight last night. The hillside is said to still be unstable, as Minnie Maintenance workers were positioned on both sides of the slide overnight to try and prevent motorists from wrecking.
