Weekend COVID-19 Update from Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear

During his daily 5pm update on Sunday, Governor Andy Beshear announced Saturday and Sunday’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in  the state of Kentucky.

173 new cases were reported on Saturday as well as five new deaths and 80 new cases were reported on Sunday.

According to Gov. Beshear, we should not read into this number too much as some test results don’t come in as quickly over the weekend.

No new deaths were reported on Sunday, but their is a potential COVID-19 related death that the Governor believes will be confirmed during today’s update.

The total number of confirmed cases now stands at 5,130, and the death toll from COVID-19 is at 253.

Gov. Beshear has encouraged people to take advantage of COVID-19 testing, saying they have taken on more testing sites this week.

On of those sites that will be available is in Ashland. Tomorrow,  a mass COVID-19 testing site will be available until Thursday May 7 at the ACTC campus on Technology Drive off the Industrial Parkway.

As of the Governors announcement, 250 additional spots ere made available for the drive-up testing on Tuesday. On Wednesday, 350 slots were added, and 369 spots are ready for sign ups on Thursday.
