Some of Kentucky’s finest visited the State House to advocate for a comrade’s family

The group of fire fighters spoke in front of the Senate Committee to advocate Senate Bill 195. This legislation would include cancer as a line of duty death, and grant some financial security to the families. The responders made the trip because their co-worker Matt Logsdon is currently struggling with stage 4 cancer. Under the bill a fire fighter’s family could gain benefits if they have worked for 5 consecutive years, be under 65 and not used tobacco for 10 years prior to the death. The legislation passed committee and is now headed to the senate floor for a vote.
