Officials with the City of Prestonsburg Police Department took to their Facebook page earlier today to announce the escape of an inmate who was residing in the Floyd County Detention Center.

Shawn Gayheart of McDowell was in custody on charges of fleeing from Prestonsburg Police Officers a little over a month ago. Gayheart wasn’t gone for long though, as Prestonsburg Police Lieutenant George Tussey, with assistance from Floyd County Deputy Dusty Newsome and Sgt. Kevin Shepherd, quickly apprehended Gayheart.
