COVID-19 Update from Wednesday, December 10th

During his 4 p.m. update on Wednesday, Dec. 9th, Gov. Beshear reported 3,481 new cases of COVID-19. This bring’s Kentucky’s total cases to 209,136, with 172,075 of those cases being lab confirmed and 37,061 are probable.

Sixteen new deaths were reported on Wednesday. Those reported lost to the virus include two women, ages 81 and 94, and an 80-year-old man from Caldwell County; a 32-year-old man from Clark County; a 94-year-old man from Daviess County; a 65-year-old man from Floyd County; a 98-year-old woman from Harlan County; a 78-year-old woman and a 74-year-old man from Jefferson County; a 90-year-old man from Jessamine County; a 69-year-old woman from Livingston County; an 82-year-old man from Marshall County; an 82-year-old man from McLean County; a 69-year-old woman from Ohio County; an 89-year-old man from Owsley County; and a 68-year-old man from Webster County..

This makes a total of 2,118 Kentuckians lost to the virus; though 104 of those are probable and only 2,014 are lab confirmed.

A total of 3,015,072 COVID-19 test have been administered in Kentucky. 2,792,321 were PCR Test, 97,299 were serology test, and 125,452 were antigen test. The positivity rate currently stands at 9.23%.

Currently 1,792 Kentuckians are hospitalized due COVID-19 related symptoms. With 412 in the ICU and 211 on a ventilator.

Top counties with the most positive cases on Wednesday were: Jefferson, Fayette, Kenton, Warren, Boone and Madison. Each of these counties reported 100 or more new cases; Jefferson County alone reported 731.

On a positive note, at least 30,540 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.
