bsctc-7

Big Sandy Community & Technical College’s Appalachian Manufacturing Initiative (AMI) received $1,250.00 from Haas through the Gene Haas Foundation to support the AMI Program and its students. These funds will be used for scholarships to pay for tuition, books, students’ personal NIMS account, individual NIMS credentials, and small personal tools required to complete the program.

This grant will also facilitate a competition comprised of AMI students and AMI teams. Eligible competitions showcase manufacturing and CNC machining programs such as Skills CNC competitions, FIRST Robotics, racing programs such as SAE, Shell ECO, and Solar car challenges.

BSCTC President Sherry Zylka stated, “We are grateful to be recognized and receive support from the Gene Haas Foundation. CNC and waterjet technology are positive additions to our Workforce Solutions Program, as they forge a path for technical careers in eastern Kentucky.”
