A Federal Jury has convicted 49 year old Elliot Campbell and his wife, Melinda, 39 of charges related to wire fraud and extortion. In a statement from the US Attorney’s office the couple, who operated several trucking companies, allegedly induced shipping brokers to enter into  contracts stipulating payment would be made when cargo was delivered to the intended recipient.  However, once the cargo was delivered to the Campbell’s they refused to deliver the cargo and held said cargo hostage by demanding payment prior to delivery.  In order to continue their fraudulent schemes the Campbell’s used false names in order to create new trucking companies. The Campbells are scheduled to be sentenced June 14, 2016.
