
On Thursday, January 29th the state of Kentucky reported 2,947 new cases of COVID-19. This makes a total of 355,877 reported cases of COVID-19 in the commonwealth. 279,340 of those cases have been officially lab confirmed whereas the remaining 76,537 cases are probable.
69 new deaths were reported on Thursday. This makes a total of 3,611 Kentuckians lost to the virus; though 300 of those are probable and only 3,311 have been officially lab confirmed.
A total of 3,985,343 COVID-19 test have been administered in Kentucky. 3,560,903 were PCR Test, 107,732 were serology test, and 316,732 were antigen test. The positivity rate currently stands at 9.04%.
Currently 1,561 Kentuckians are hospitalized due COVID-19 related symptoms. With 370 in the ICU and 205 on a ventilator.
Top counties with the most positive cases on Thursday were: Jefferson, Fayette, Kenton, Daviess and Greenup. Each of these counties reported 100 or more new cases; Jefferson County alone reported 433.
On a positive note, at least 42,684 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus. The Governor’s office also reports that 345,800 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been received in Kentucky and 310,357 doses have been administered, statewide. Of the 120,900 doses received, 52,567 have been administered to long-term care facility residents and staff.
