Kentucky COVID-19 Update by the numbers, as of Sunday, January 31st

As of Sunday, January 31st, the state of Kentucky reported 1,768 new cases of COVID-19. This makes a total of 362,890 reported cases of COVID-19 in the commonwealth. 284,053 of those cases have been officially lab confirmed whereas the remaining 78,837 cases are probable.

This makes a total of 3,745 Kentuckians lost to the virus; though 327 of those are probable and only 3,418 have been officially lab confirmed.

A total of 4,035,018 COVID-19 test have been administered in Kentucky. 3,590,222 were PCR Test, 108,050 were serology test, and 336,746 were antigen test. The positivity rate currently stands at 8.81%, marking the 11th straight day of positivity rate decrease for COVID-19 testing in Kentucky.

Currently 1,505 Kentuckians are hospitalized due COVID-19 related symptoms. With 355 in the ICU and 199 on a ventilator.

Top counties with the most positive cases from Sunday were: Jefferson, Fayette, Kenton, Daviess and Boone. Each of these counties reported 95 or more new cases; Jefferson County alone reported 360.

On a positive note, at least 43,380 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus. The Governor’s office also reports that 345,800 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been received in Kentucky and 345,800 doses have been administered, statewide. Of the 120,900 doses recieved ny the LTCF Program, 58,747 have been administered to long-term care facility residents and staff.
