Lexington Police are investigating a collision involving a police cruiser and a pedestrian.
Police say that around 5:19pm on Tuesday, officers responded to a welfare check on a 19 year old man who was reported to be having a mental crisis by a Social Worker. The man was reportedly threating the case worker over the phone.
When the police arrived the man threatened the officer with a knife before fleeing on foot. The officer called an on-foot pursuit.
While fleeing, the man ran into the roadways and was hit by another police car arriving on the scene.
The officers immediately called for an ambulance, and the man was treated for non life threatening injuries. He will be placed in Emergency Detention for his mental crisis.
