Vernon Lester 90, of Phelps, Kentucky passed away May 14, 2021 at Pikeville Medical Center.  He was born July 3, 1930 in Stopover, Ky the son of the late Paris and Rittie “Blankenship” Lester.  He was a machinist of General Electric.

Besides his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by his wife Hazel P. Lester, a brother Lamuel Lester and a sister Opal Ferrell.

Vernon had a passion for working on cars.  He loved constructing anything with metal.  He had the ability to fix almost anything.  His favorite automobile was a Volkswagen.  He also enjoyed riding motorcycles.  Vernon was a member of Stopover Church of God.

Funeral services will be held at Jones & West Funeral Home of Phelps, Kentucky Tuesday May 18, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.  Pastor Harold Layne will be officiating. 

Burial will follow in Johnson Memorial Park of Pikeville, Kentucky.

Visitation will be in the funeral home chapel Monday evening 5:00 p.m. for the family.  6:00-10:00 p.m. for the public with special services starting at 7:00 p.m.
