He was born at Rockfork of Garrett, KY on January 2, 1946 to Isaac Gunnell and Martha Chaffins Gunnell.

Funeral services for Foley Harold Gunnell will be held at Hindman Funeral Services Chapel, Friday, July 2, 2021 at 1:00PM with Randall Short officiating. Burial will follow at Green Gayheart Cemetery at Hindman, KY. Visitation will be held at the Chapel, Wednesday and Thursday evening from 6PM to 9PM.
