A woman out of Letcher County, who was arrested this past April for federal child porn charges, intends to pursue an insanity defense.

 

33-year-old Nicole Combs was indicted alongside 46-year-old Eric Banks on a charge of producing child pornography. Combs is also facing charges for sexual abuse, sodomy, and incest charges in Letcher Circuit Court. Banks has been charged with promoting the sexual performance of a minor.

 

The charges against the two allege that Banks filmed Combs while she engaged in criminal sexual activity with a 4-year-old.

 

This past Thursday, a judge granted a request given by Combs’ attorney, that she receive a psychiatric examination. The attorney noted that he had recently discovered that Combs had been receiving treatment for PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizo-affective disorder, along with depression, for over a year before her arrest.

 

The examination will determine whether or not Combs is capable of participating in her own defense.
