Officials from the Department of Highways say elm bark can be used in herbal remedies. It can be used as an natural astringent that is placed on wounds to help heal, but, officials also say tree strippers are doing more harm than good for the region. In stripping the tree of it’s bark, you are also robbing it of it’s nutrients, it will also be without water, and as a result the tree will die. Officials say these dead trees can fall on top of, or in front of a vehicle and cause damage. Officials encourage anyone who observes tree stripping to do their very best to get a description of the person themselves, their vehicle, and to contact the KSP in your area.
