Trial Begins For Man Accused of Murder

A trial has began in Lewis County for a man who is accused of murder.

On Monday the jury was seated for the trial of Preston Walters. In March of 2017, a man was found dead on Cooper Ridge Road along the Lewis/Carter County line. The man was identified as 28 year old Justin Johnson. Johnson had been fatally shot.

Another man was arrested in connection to the murder, Wince Walters, was charged with tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.

The Lewis County Sheriff, Johnny Bivens had said in 2017, Preston Walters allegedly fatally shot Johnson in the back on March 23rd.

Sheriff Bivens said Walters then concealed his body beside a roadway and covered it with leaves. Johnson’s body was found on March 29th of 2017.
