A closed hospital in Greenup County may become a drug recovery center.
Addiction Recovery Care of Louisa has signed a letter of intent to buy a portion of Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
Addiction Recovery Care is hoping to finalize the plans to buy the hospital in the next couple of months, and then begin renovations of the building.
“It could be up to 400-500 beds in the main hospital setting”, said Paul Andrews, the Market CEO of the Northeast Region of Addiction Recovery Care.
“Recent data showed that in the state of Kentucky there’s a significant increase in substance abuse use and overdose deaths throughout the state. Eastern Kentucky is an area that ranks up there at the top”, said Andrews.
The goal is to have the facility open and operational sometime in 2022.
