After school officials allegedly discovered a pistol in his vehicle, a Pike Central High School student was arrested and transported to jail on Monday.

Administrators were working to resolve a verbal argument between two students when they received word that Raymond Wood, 18, of Varney, had brought a gun to school, according to court papers.

When asked about the claim, Wood allegedly admitted to carrying a gun in his truck, which was discovered in the passenger seat by authorities.

He has now been charged with firearm possession on school grounds, a crime punishable by up to five years in jail.
