One man is now dead and another is in jail following a hit-and-run collision this past Saturday in Pikeville.

 

39-year-old Cecil Norman Jr., of Pikeville, died after his vehicle was struck by a car on US 23 near Pikeville High School. The incident happened at around 9:30 AM that morning. The car who struck the vehicle did not stop.

 

Police managed to track down 51-year-old Chris Allen Salyer, of Elkhorn City, just after 1:00 AM on Monday.

 

Salyer is said to have fled to a house on East Keyser Heights after he struck Norman, where he was found hiding in a locked bathroom. His vehicle had sustained significant damage to the front end, including a broken windshield that had been covered with black plastic.

 

Salyer is said to have given police a statement about the incident, but no additional details have currently been released.
