Three individuals are now facing charges following a traffic stop in Wayne County earlier this week. The stop was made just after midnight on Wednesday on Fair Street in Monticello.
Deputies made the stop for traffic violations. During which, officers discovered the driver, 42-year-old Charles Doan, of Barbourville, had an active warrant for his arrest in addition to a suspended license.
Deputies took him into custody and gained permission to search the vehicle. Inside, they discovered approximately 98 grams of methamphetamine.
Two passengers in the car, 44-year-old Carolyn Lee, and 36-year-old Marcus Daffron, both of Monticello, denied knowing who the drugs belonged to. They were also arrested.
Doan is being charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating on a suspended driver’s license, and the initial traffic violation. Those charges add to those on the outstanding warrant out of Laurel County.
Lee was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Daffron shares the same charges as Lee, in addition to a previous active warrant out of Wayne County.
All three individuals were taken to the Wayne County Detention Center.
