A man out of Wise County was recently sentenced to over 16-years in prison following a discovery of drugs and guns in his possession after a crash.
31-year-old Malcolm Pinkston, of Big Stone Gap, was found to be in possession of 48 grams of Fentanyl in addition to two handguns, following a crash that took place on US 23 at Duffield. Back in December, Pinkston pleaded guilty to possession with the intent to distribute and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
On Wednesday in Federal court, Pinkston was sentenced to 15-years in prison for those charges in addition to a 15-month sentence that was added because he was still under supervision after pleading guilty to an oxycodone distribution conspiracy back in 2012.
Pinkston currently remains in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail, awaiting transfer to the federal prison system.
