A correctional officer working for the Claiborne County Jail was arrested on Friday for charges of rape.

21-year-old Austin Butcher’s arrest stemmed from an investigation into rape allegations against him. He was booked into the jail on felony charges of rape, aggravated rape, and mitigated statutory rape.

Butcher began work as a correctional officer at the jail in 2021. His position was terminated as a result of these charges.
