A Wayne County man is now facing charges after police discovered a child who was intoxicated inside a home.

 

On Sunday, Wayne County EMS and Monticello Police were called to an apartment on Conn Street, just before 3:00 PM.

 

Upon their arrival, officials are said to have found an 8-year-old boy who was under the influence. The boy was transported to the Wayne County Hospital and then to UK Medical Center for further treatment.

 

50-year-old Charles Jones was later arrested at his house on Lincoln Avenue. According to officials, Jones gave the boy several shots of whiskey, leading to his intoxication.

 

Jones was arrested and lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center. He faces charges of wanton endangerment and unlawful transaction with a minor.

 

The child’s condition is unknown at this time.
