A woman out of Johnson County was taken to jail after her two children were found wandering around a parking lot, unattended.
A Sheriff’s Deputy responded to Starfire Hill, where the children were said to have been found. A social worker was able to positively identify the children from previous interactions with them. The deputy then went to the children’s home in a nearby trailer court to speak with the parents.
Upon his arrival, the mother, 37-year-old Josephine Barnett, was allegedly inside watching TV. She informed the deputy that there were no children in the house, then she later informed him that the children had been there, but must have left through the back door because she didn’t know where they were.
Barnett was arrested and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
