A woman has been hospitalized after a shooting in Lawrence County. Kentucky State Police say the shooting happened early Friday morning on Rockcastle Lane in Cherryville.

When troopers arrived on the scene, they discovered a married couple having a dispute and during that, the husband, Herbert Fletcher, shot his wife Kelly.

Police are not sure why Fletcher shot his wife.

Herbert Fletcher was taken to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center. He was arrested and charged with assault.

Kelly Fletcher was taken to Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa before being moved to Pikeville Medical Center for further treatment.

We do not know her current status.
