A free legal help hotline is now available for Kentucky Flood survivors. The hotline is available to connect survivors in qualifying counties who cannot afford an attorney to free legal services. Survivors can call 1-844-478-0099  from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Messages can be left after business hours and calls will be returned on the next business day.

Those calling the hotline may get help with legal issues like: FEMA and SBA financial benefits, Re-doing wills and other important legal documents, Landlord or tenant problems, or threats of foreclosure, Home repair contracts and property insurance claims, and Disability-related access to federal, state, and local disaster programs.

If calling after hours, survivors can call the hotline anytime and leave a message. Hotline partners cannot help in all cases however. They cannot take cases where a settlement may include legal fees or an award. But they can refer those cases to other
legal help.

The Disaster Legal Services (DLS) program works with state and local partners to give free legal help for low-income disaster survivors. The service is a partnership between Appalachian Citizens Law Center, the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, American Red Cross, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), AppalReD Legal Aid, Kentucky Bar Association, Louisville Bar Association, Northern Kentucky Bar Association and Lawyers Mutual of Kentucky.
