A man out of Norton was arrested on a murder charge, following the discovery of a woman’s body on Saturday.

 

Officers with the Wise County Sheriff’s Office were called to a home on Petrey Street, in Norton, over a report of an unresponsive woman.

 

The 61-year-old was found and transported to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Officers noted that the death appeared suspicious, as there were a number of injuries to the woman’s body.

 

Following an investigation, 60-year-old Danny Sturgill was arrested. Sturgill has been charged with second-degree murder and malicious wounding. He is currently being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail, at Duffield.
