A registered sex-offender who was living in Pike County was arrested after he reportedly went to a local school.

 

49-year-old James Paul Dotson, of Belfry, was arrested on Thursday morning following Belfry Elementary School staff reporting that he showed up on school grounds. Dotson was prohibited from being on school property under the terms of his sex offender status.

 

Dotson was convicted of third-degree criminal sexual conduct in Michigan. The victim was 15-years-old at the time.

 

Dotson is also charged with failure to comply with sex offender school restrictions, which is a misdemeanor.

 

He is currently being held in the Pike County Detention Center.
