The former Coroner for Scott County, John Goble, was sentenced in court on Monday.

Goble had previously pleaded guilty to perjury in September. On Monday, a judge sentenced him to a sentence of one-year that was probated for five-years.

Police initially arrested Goble in 2018 in connection to a scheme to illegally buy and sell Kentucky State Police guns and ammunition in 2017.

Goble is said to have stored the guns and ammunition in the basement of the Scott County Coroner’s Office during his time holding the position. He faced charges at both the state and federal levels and pleaded guilty to both courts.

In May, Goble took a plea deal with federal prosecutors and admitted to one-count of defrauding the United States. In that case, he was sentenced to one-year of home incarceration followed by two years of probation in addition to being required to pay a $10,000 fine.

In September, Goble pleaded guilty in Scott County Court to one-count of perjury.

His sentence means he won’t have to serve the year in prison so long as he does not violate the terms of his five-year probation.
