Two Carter County Teenagers Dead after Car Crash

Two students of West Carter High School died Tuesday night in a car accident that happened in the Olive Hill area, along State Route 2, just off Interstate 64. The accident was reported  just before 10 p.m.

Carter County School officials this morning released a statement following the deaths of  the two students.

Carter County Schools stated on their Facebook page that they are devastated to learn of the tragic deaths of the two students and their thoughts and prayers go out to their loved ones during this difficult time.

Kentucky State Police officials said the two teenagers were traveling on Route 2 headed north, when the driver lost control of the vehicle after going around a curve.

The car went off the road and struck a rock embankment. The car then flipped over and the passenger of the vehicle was thrown out of the car.

The Coroner pronounced both students dead at the scene. Their identities were not publicly released
