Well-Known Man from Knox County Sentenced to 100 Months in Prison for Drug Trafficking

A man from Knox County was sentence to more than eight years behind bars for his involvement in a federal drug trafficking case.

It’s reported that earlier this week Calvin Manis, a former city councilman for Barbourville, pled guilty to the charges

Manis admitted to filling prescriptions for pain pills or having employees of his pharmacy fill them, with prior knowledge of the pills being sold illegally, according to court documents.

Manis and John Pasternak, who is also from Barbourville, were both charged in the case. Pasternak pled guilty to conspiracy to distribute drugs.

Since March 2021, Manis had been in custody before his sentencing. Pasternak was sentenced to 55 months in prison. Manis was sentenced to 100 months in prison.
