Now, an update from the City of Prestonsburg Police Department:
After months of investigations by detectives and officers – ranging from Robbery and Trafficking illegal dangerous drugs, theft of vehicles and many other felonies – over twenty individuals were arrested today in Prestonsburg Police’s affectionately named “Operation Fall Festival”.
While investigations often appear stagnant, they take hours upon hours of work that is completed by investigators with multiple case assignments and prosecutors that are responsible for hundreds of cases themselves. Our outstanding relationship with Commonwealth’s Attorney Brent Turner’s Office and County Attorney Keith Bartley’s Office, we are able to fully investigate and bring solid cases before the courts that result in real success stories for both victims and perpetrators, oftentimes brining treatment to those first time offenders that need it most.
Today, with the full force and effect of the Commonwealth and your fully staffed and equipped twenty-one officer police department with the assistance of Prestonsburg Fire & EMS Tactical Medical Team, Ashland Police Department, and the Johnson County Sheriff, we were able to effect twenty-one of twenty-five targeted arrests, an astounding success rate in these operations.
