Law enforcement in Pulaski County are warning people of a new phone scam.

Officials with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office announced on Facebook that the scammer claims to be a police officer, going by the name Detective Sellers or Sergeant Gibson.

According to officials, the scam callers will tell the potential victim that they are having legal trouble. The scammer will then request the potential victim’s personal information and gift card in order to pay bond.

It’s reported that one person was scammed out of $250 last week.

The sheriff’s office has stated that they will not discuss and/or ask for your personal information over the phone. They would also never demand a gift card to pay anything.

Law enforcement believe the calls are from a local number ending with 6579. They warn that it could be any number and it will usually look like a legitimate number in the area.

Please contact the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office if you believe you have fallen victim to this scam or have received a questionable phone call.
