Hiker’s Dogs Fall Off Cliff at Red River Gorge

Two hikers responded to a call for help Yesterday when their dogs fell off a steep cliff at Red River Gorge.

Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team Officials said in a post on their Facebook page, that the dogs were ahead of the two hikers when they fell 80 feet off the cliff.

The owner couldn’t locate their dogs when they managed to get to the bottom of the cliff. The search and rescue team were able to find the dogs when they arrived. One of the dogs died from the fall and the other survived with no visible injuries.

Officials used a rope system to recover both dogs.
