Officers with the Monticello Police Department were called to the Walmart by store-security personnel, who had apprehended two women allegedly attempting to steal items from the store. 

 

52-year-old Corina Hatfield and 21-year-old Mercedes Hatfield, both of Monticello, were both arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking.

 

On Saturday afternoon, officers were called back to the same store with another shoplifting complaint. 47-year-old Brandi Upchurch, of Monticello, was also arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking.

 

That same day, officers served a warrant on a man who is believed to have been involved in the theft of building materials from a home in Wayne County. 23-year-old Brandon Smith, of Monticello, was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking.

 

All four individuals were transported to the Wayne County Detention Center.
