Chestnut Ridge, a community that is located near the Knott County Sportsplex, will be bringing 57 new homes to replace homes that were lost in the July floods.
The project will be a collaboration with Western Pocahontas Properties, Joe and Kelly Craft and the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky. These organizations will work along with the Housing Development Alliance and Samaritan’s Purse and should have the homes finished in the next year.
The property the homes will be built on will be located in the Chestnut Mountain Subdivision.
The homes will be sold at their appraised value once they are completed by the Housing Development Alliance. If flood survivors use the home as their primary residence, The home will be sold with equity in the form of forgivable loans for the survivors. Samaritan’s Purse will work with those who suffered most from the flood to ensure they won’t have to pay a mortgage.
