A Knott County Man will be receiving an award at the upcoming East Kentucky Leadership Conference for his heroic act of saving nine lives during the devastating floods that occurred last July.
Nathan Day saved two mothers and five children on the morning of July 28 after he heard their cries for help and saved two more women who were on a street adjacent to his.
Day commented on the award and said he doesn’t need the recognition for saving lives and that he just did what he believes is right.
Day will receive the award at the The East Kentucky Leadership Conference which will be on April 27-28 at Hazard Community and Technical College.
