Man out of Pike County Arrested and Charged with Murder after Shooting in Phelps

A man out of Pike County has been charged with murder after Kentucky State Police responded to a call on Friday, concerning an active shooter in the community of Phelps.

According to police, they received a call around 8 am on Friday concerning a shooter in Phelps. The situation led to schools and other facilities being placed under lockdown.

The shooter fled the scene which led to police searching the area for hours. The suspect, 19 year old Sterlin Justice, was found less than five miles from the crime scene.

Justice was arrested and charged with murder as an investigation determined one person had died in the shooting. Justice was lodged in the Pike County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing.
