The 15th Region Baseball Tournament is underway as 8 teams from all over the region met at the Stonecrest Sports Complex in Prestonsburg Yesterday for the first round of the tournament.

Paintsville defeated Lawrence County in the tournament opener with the final score of 6 – 0. The second game of the first round was another dominant performance as Pikeville knocked out Belfry in 5 innings with the final score of 10 – 0.

Pike County Central duked it out with Shelby Valley in the third game of the first round in what was a very competitive matchup as Pike Central clutched a victory over Shelby Valley with the final score of 5 – 4.

In the final game of the first round, Johnson Central defeated Floyd Central in dominant fashion as Johnson Central beat Floyd Central 10 – 4.

The second round of the regional tournament will begin today at 5pm as Johnson Central will take on Pike Central which will be followed by Paintsville Vs. Pikeville at 8pm. The winners of these games will advance to the championship game which will be played on Wednesday at 6pm.
