Kentucky State Police in Harlan County are investigating a shooting that occurred very early Monday morning that left one person dead.

According to Kentucky State Police, shots were fired during an incident in Harlan at the housing authority located on Kelly Street. Harlan Police Officers responded to calls concerning the incident just before 1:45 am.

Police have not released the identity of the victim, but confirmed that there were no officers injured in the incident. Kentucky State Police will release more information as the investigation is ongoing.
