A GOOD RUN OF BAD LUCK

The lack of a seat belt is all it took for a Floyd County woman to find herself being taken to jail on drug trafficking charges. A state trooper was patrolling in Martin, when he spotted Jessica Brown, 42, of Maytown, driving across the New Bridge without a seat belt, so he pulled her over. While speaking to her, he noticed she was sitting on a meth pipe, which gave him probable cause to conduct a search. During his search, the trooper found three bags of meth, a bag of pills and a bag of marijuana in a backpack, along with a large number of empty plastic bags. The officer wrote in his report that the amount of meth he found was more than what would be considered personal use. Brown was arrested and charged with trafficking in meth along with a number of lesser charges.
