I don’t think anyone gets into teaching for the glorious pay, (insert sarcasm), I DO believe that most people do it to make a positive difference in the world by affecting the life of kids. What’s the old saying? Change the life of a child and change the world? Well it’s true. In this day and age affording school supplies is more of a challenge than when I was a kid, no doubt. Not only are there pens and pencils, crayons and paper, but hey, it’s 2024, let’s add in computers or tablets and all the nifty electronic jazz that wasn’t even an option when yours truly was gnawing icee pops and M and Ms.
At their March meeting, the Floyd County Board of Education voted in favor of purchasing school supplies for all children attending Floyd County Schools in the upcoming school year. students who attend Floyd County Schools fifth through 12th grade will receive devices to use and backpacks. Typically, the devices, backpacks and supplies will all be distributed to students during the first week of school. Hats off to the FCBE and all of its staff and members. I wonder if they know exactly how much of a difference that they will make for these kids and their families? Alot.
