A Pike County man is facing multiple charges after an occurrence at the office of Pike County Judge Executive Ray Jones. Police responded after a complaint on Monday of an incident at Jones’ office. When they arrived, police said Jones told them a worker was getting increasingly violent, as he was punching items and threatening coworkers while asking them if they wanted his neighbor’s cat.

The man making the threats was identified as Andrew Smith, of Virgie. Witnesses told Police that after Smith threatened coworkers, they heard gunshots outside of the building. The witnesses then reported they saw blood on the car that the cat was in. Police said Smith confessed to making the comments and shooting the cat when asked by judge executive Ray Jones. He reportedly did that while on duty for the county. Smith was fired and charged as a result. The Virgie man was charged with third degree terroristic threatening, second degree animal cruelty and first degree criminal mischief.
