A Johnson County man was arrested after he fled from officers, then made a false report to 911 in an attempt to elude them. According to an arrest citation written by KSP Trooper Gregory Whitson, while patrolling U.S. 23 on April 28, he observed a 2016 Cadillac CTS turn left from U.S. 23 into the parking lot of the Turner Branch BP at an “unsafe” rate of speed. The vehicle then parked in an area with “No Parking” signs displayed, the citation said. Whitson wrote that he confirmed that the vehicle’s registration plate was canceled. The citation said the driver, later identified as Shannon S. Price, 25, of Ky. 302, Van Lear, got out of the vehicle and walked down Ratliff Road, where he was confronted by a resident. Price, the citation said, then walked in front of the BP, where the trooper could see him texting on his phone before walking into the store then to the bathrooms. Whitson wrote that he recognized Price because he had cited him on numerous charges, including driving on a suspended license, earlier in the day, at which time Price was driving a different vehicle. Price was lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center on charges of falsely reporting an incident to law enforcement, driving on a suspended license, second-degree fleeing, or evading police (on foot) and a number of traffic charges.
