Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 13 were dispatched to a residence on West KY 80, in the Combs community of Perry County, after dispatchers received a call advising that someone had been shot.  Upon arrival, officers located Melvin Shane Gross of Hazard, lying inside of his residence with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the face.  Investigators were advised that he had just stepped out of his residence when the shooting occurred.  Shane Gross was transported to Pikeville Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.  His condition is unknown at this time.
